Robotis and LG Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on June 22 to explore a strategic equity investment by LG in Robotis' manufacturing facility in Uzbekistan.
Under the agreement, LG Electronics is considering both financial and operational support for the upcoming plant, which will specialize in the production of robotic actuators.
Leveraging more than six decades of expertise in motor technology, LG Electronics currently develops and manufactures its own proprietary robotic actuators in Korea.
Through this latest partnership, the company aims to create strong synergies by integrating Robotis' actuator technology into its portfolio. The collaboration is expected to help LG respond more agilely to diverse customer specifications while enhancing supply chain stability, while at the same time giving a major boost to Robotis' core component business.
Beyond hardware production, the two companies have also agreed to cooperate on advanced R&D. The partnership will focus on the joint development of humanoid robotics technologies, with a particular emphasis on incorporating “AI Sapiens,” the next-generation artificial intelligence platform recently unveiled by Robotis.
