Expectations are rising for Hyundai AutoEver's robotics business, one of the company's key new growth areas. At a recent JPMorgan Conference in the United States, Hyundai Motor Group once again highlighted Hyundai AutoEver as a core execution partner in the expansion of the group's robotics initiatives.
According to industry sources on Wednesday, Hyundai Motor Group presented its long-term robotics strategy during the conference held in Boston on May 18-19. The event was attended by Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon and Global Strategy Office (GSO) head Kim Heung-soo. During the presentation, the group unveiled its vision for a broader robotics ecosystem and emphasized that Hyundai AutoEver would play a central role among key affiliates.
Under the group's planned structure, Hyundai AutoEver will oversee robotics system integration (SI), while Boston Dynamics will focus on robot technologies, Hyundai Mobis on components, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia on manufacturing, and Hyundai Glovis on logistics and supply chain operations.
Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung also outlined plans to build an integrated robotics ecosystem by combining the capabilities of the group's affiliates. Boston Dynamics, Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Mobis, and Hyundai AutoEver were identified as major participants in that strategy.
Industry observers believe Hyundai AutoEver's role will extend far beyond conventional IT support. The company is expected to connect data collection and management, robot intelligence enhancement, and smart factory optimization through a data-driven system integration flywheel. In practice, this means deploying robots in manufacturing and logistics environments while continuously feeding operational data back into robot performance upgrades and factory efficiency improvements.
To deploy robots effectively in industrial settings, companies need integrated control systems, software connectivity, data management, and maintenance frameworks. Analysts say Hyundai AutoEver is well positioned to become the software operations platform for the group's robotics business by leveraging its existing smart factory and SI expertise. Some also expect the company's role to expand further into robot platforms and operating systems if it gains experience building large-scale robot control systems.
As Hyundai Motor Group accelerates commercialization and mass deployment of robots based on Boston Dynamics technology, Hyundai AutoEver's importance within the ecosystem is expected to grow further. The group plans to gradually expand deployment of the humanoid robot Atlas starting with dedicated EV factories in the United States from 2028.
Investor expectations for Hyundai AutoEver's robotics business are already being reflected in the market. Earlier this month, the company became the most valuable IT service firm by market capitalization in South Korea.
