LG Electronics is expanding its modular housing portfolio with new additions to its LG Smart Cottage lineup. The company has introduced two new models in the 20-pyeong (approximately 22-24 pyeong) range and expanded its customization options, allowing customers to choose from a wider selection of home appliances, IoT devices, and interior configurations.
The new single-story models are the MONO Core 72 (72.9㎡ / approximately 22 pyeong) and MONO Core 82 (82.1㎡ / approximately 24 pyeong). Compared with previous models, they offer more living space while reducing the price per pyeong. Each model features two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
With their larger floor plans, the new models are well suited not only for residential use but also for commercial applications such as corporate training centers, leisure facilities, and hospitality accommodations. Customers can personalize furniture and storage layouts for each room, select home appliances and IoT devices, configure floor plans, and choose exterior finishes. The entrance orientation and roof design can also be modified to better suit the surrounding environment.
Each Smart Cottage comes standard with LG's AI home hub ThinQ ON, along with smart door locks, smart switches, system air conditioning, and a condensing boiler.
LG Smart Cottage is manufactured using a prefabricated (pre-fab) construction method, with more than 70% of key building components--including the structural frame, windows, electrical wiring, bathrooms, and kitchen fixtures--pre-produced in a factory before being assembled on-site. Compared with conventional reinforced concrete construction, this approach can reduce construction time by up to 50%. LG Electronics is collaborating with modular housing specialist Space Waivy on the project.
The starting prices are KRW 199.5 million for the MONO Core 72 and KRW 223.5 million for the MONO Core 82. Compared with previous models, the price per pyeong has been reduced by up to 76%.
The LG Smart Cottage lineup consists of two types based on size and configuration: the single-story MONO series and the two-story DUO series. With the introduction of the new models, LG now offers a total of eight Smart Cottage models: 8-pyeong (single-story/two-story), 14-pyeong (single-story/two-story), 16-pyeong (single-story/two-story), 22-pyeong (single-story), and 24-pyeong (single-story).
“The new models combine larger living spaces with more competitive pricing, providing an innovative housing solution that meets diverse business needs, from residential living to corporate training centers and leisure and hospitality facilities,” said Yeonwoo Cho, Head of the LG Smart Cottage Company at LG Electronics. “We will continue to deliver new customer experiences by combining AI technology with personalized living spaces.”
