LG Electronics is partnering with GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C) to develop next-generation AI home solutions, expanding its business-to-business (B2B) AI home business. The company aims to move beyond supplying home appliances to become a comprehensive solutions provider by combining robotics, platforms, and services.
On July 13, LG Electronics announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GS E&C to jointly develop next-generation AI home technologies. Under the agreement, LG will integrate its AI home hub, ThinQ ON, which connects home appliances, IoT devices, and services, with the residential infrastructure of GS E&C's Xi apartment brand.
The integrated system will allow residents to control lighting, heating, and ventilation, call elevators, locate parked vehicles, and reserve community facilities through a single platform. It will also offer hyper-personalized services, with AI understanding users' daily routines through natural conversations and proactively recommending or automatically performing tasks.
The new agreement follows an MOU signed in April to develop a next-generation residential robotics service model. Under that partnership, the two companies have been establishing robot-friendly apartment design standards and developing residential services using LG's CLOiD home robots.
LG Electronics is strengthening its B2B strategy by offering construction companies not only premium built-in appliances but also integrated AI home solutions. Rather than focusing solely on appliance supply, the company is expanding into a comprehensive solutions business encompassing robotics, software platforms, and services.
