With the opening of Computex, Taiwan's largest information technology (IT) event, approaching on June 2, expectations are also growing for a meeting for cooperation between Jensen Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia Corp., and officials from South Korean companies.
According to the industry on May 31, 'Computex 2026', organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), will be held for four days from June 2 to 5 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center under the theme of 'AI Together'.
This event will be held on the largest scale ever, with about 1,500 companies from more than 30 countries setting up more than 6,000 booths.
Nvidia is scheduled to hold its annual AI conference 'GTC Taipei', drawing keen attention. Huang will step up as a keynote speaker at GTC Taipei on June 1, the day before the opening, to unveil next-generation AI chips and AI infrastructure strategies.
It is learned that Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, will personally attend the keynote speech site to listen to Huang's presentation.
Huang is scheduled to hold a dinner event 'Korea Partner Night' with officials from major South Korean companies at a local restaurant in the city on the evening of June 1. Officials from major South Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics Co., SK hynix Inc., Hyundai Motor Group, LG Electronics Inc., Doosan, and Naver, will attend.
Nvidia will hold a media briefing with Huang on June 2, and Huang is expected to visit partner booths on the opening day. Attention is focused on whether he will visit the booths of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, which are domestic partners.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm; Matt Murphy, CEO of Marvell; Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel; and Rafael Sotomayor, CEO of NXP will step up as Computex keynote speakers. Rene Haas, CEO of Arm, will also conduct a separate keynote session on June 2.
Domestic semiconductor and display companies will also set up booths and participate in the exhibition. Not only Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, but also semiconductor material, component, and equipment companies will participate in the exhibition. Hanmi Semiconductor will introduce system memory packaging equipment, led by the 'Wide TC Bonder' for high bandwidth memory (HBM) production.
Samsung Display Co. is scheduled to unveil a 31.5-inch Quantum Dot Organic Light Emitting Diode (QD-OLED) panel for monitors that realizes 4K (3840×2160) resolution and a 360Hz refresh rate. LG Display Co. will showcase a White (W) OLED panel for monitors that adopts a 240Hz red, green, and blue (RGB) stripe structure.
