Lenovo Korea has secured the largest public procurement laptop order this year, marking a significant step in strengthening its position in the public sector.
According to data from the Public Procurement Service's Procurement Data Hub on the 13th, Lenovo Korea's official partner, Reputer, signed a contract with the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education to supply 2,134 laptops. Reputer, a distributor responsible for supplying Lenovo products to public institutions, is scheduled to deliver the laptops by early November.
The Lenovo laptops procured by the Busan Office of Education are the V15 G5 model. The V15 G5 is evaluated as a cost-effective laptop that ensures smooth performance for basic tasks like document processing and program operation, featuring Intel's Core i5-1235U processor and the enterprise-grade Windows 11 Pro OS. The unit price is 1,255,000 KRW, with the total contract value exceeding 2.6 billion KRW.
The 2,134-unit order is the largest single-institution public procurement laptop contract finalized so far this year. Lenovo Korea won the bid against competitor POU Digital. In the comprehensive evaluation conducted by the Busan Office of Education, Reputer scored 96.085 points, outperforming POU Digital (94.915 points) by more than 1 point.
The result is attributed to high evaluations in categories such as price competitiveness, timely delivery, quality management, and after-sales support. The Busan Office of Education selected the supplier by comprehensively assessing factors including proposed price, delivery delay rate, defect rate from quality inspections, and contract fulfillment performance for laptops intended for PC support for elementary and middle school students.
Earlier this month, Lenovo Korea also secured a project through Reputer to supply 1,233 laptops to the Gangwon Office of Education. Consecutive wins are expected to enhance its competitiveness in public procurement.
The public procurement laptop supply business is a sector where domestic conglomerates have high preference. Companies like Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have held relatively advantageous positions due to their nationwide after-sales service (AS) networks and rapid maintenance response capabilities.
As of last year, the number of publicly procured laptops by company was: Samsung Electronics (64,435 units), LG Electronics (27,357 units), and Reputer (Lenovo Korea) (10,619 units), with domestic conglomerates dominating the market.
Lenovo Korea plans to expand its influence in public procurement by leveraging its recent large-scale orders. The company aims to enhance competitiveness in future bids with other provincial education offices and public institutions by ensuring stable large-volume deliveries and seamless after-sales support.
Lenovo Korea will further strengthen its strategy across the public and procurement markets by diversifying its lineup with competitively priced and high-performance products, including Chromebooks and tablet PCs.
