Qualcomm Technologies has partnered with Google to bring its Snapdragon X Elite platform to Googlebook, a new category of laptops designed around Gemini Intelligence.
The announcement, made on Sept. 21 U.S. time, positions Snapdragon X Elite as a key computing platform for Googlebook devices built to combine Gemini-powered AI features with high performance, power efficiency and cross-device connectivity. Qualcomm describes Snapdragon X Elite as its high-performance, low-power processor platform for AI PCs and laptops.
Googlebook is designed to work closely with Snapdragon-powered Android smartphones and tablets, supporting cross-device experiences across personal devices. The laptops can run native Android apps and games, creating a more integrated computing ecosystem across phones, tablets and PCs.
Googlebook laptops powered by Snapdragon X Elite combine Google's Gemini Intelligence with Qualcomm's performance, efficiency and connectivity technologies. Qualcomm said the devices are intended to provide proactive, AI-assisted computing while maintaining all-day battery life and seamless links to Android devices.
Key features include Cast My Apps, Magic Pointer and Rambler. Cast My Apps allows users to stream supported Android phone apps to a window on their Googlebook. Magic Pointer can bring Gemini directly to on-screen text, images and other content through a cursor gesture, allowing users to request help without leaving their current task. Rambler is a voice-based tool that turns spoken thoughts into more organized text.
Together, the features can surface relevant information from emails, calendar entries and on-screen content, while also supporting phone integration and security features intended to improve productivity.
The devices will also support Qualcomm's Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including higher frame rates and enhanced graphics performance for Android games. Through the broader Android ecosystem, users will be able to use Googlebook laptops for content creation, learning and gaming.
“Snapdragon X Elite's leading AI capabilities have transformed the personal computing experience and opened new possibilities for smarter, more personalized productivity,” Kedar Kondap, senior vice president and general manager of compute and gaming at Qualcomm, said.
Qualcomm said it is working with Google and global original equipment manufacturers, starting with Dell and HP, to bring advanced capabilities to the new Snapdragon-powered laptop category. The company said the devices will also provide Snapdragon-based Android smartphone users with a more seamless experience across devices.
