LG Electronics has earned recognition for its manufacturing excellence from Nissan, positioning itself favorably in the competitive bidding landscape for Japanese automakers.
Last month, the LG Vehicle Component Solutions (VS) Company received the “Monozukuri Spirit Certificate” in the regional Monozukuri category at the 2026 Nissan Annual Supplier Appreciation Event held in Nashville, Tennessee. The company was also named a finalist for the event's “Monozukuri Spirit Performance Award.”
“Monozukuri,” a Japanese term meaning “making things,” represents a traditional symbol of craftsmanship. Nissan adopts it as a comprehensive management philosophy spanning design, development, and production, evaluating operational and cost efficiency, quality, and customer value. The certificate is awarded to partners who successfully implement these principles in the field.
This follows LG's win of the “Global Innovation Award” at the 2025 Nissan Global Innovation & Quality Award last May, recognized for developing high-performance computing platforms that centrally manage in-vehicle digital features. LG was also credited for expanding the mass production of its Nissan IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) systems across multiple regions, starting with Europe in 2024.
These back-to-back recognitions validate LG's technological prowess and large-scale manufacturing stability—critical factors for automakers when selecting suppliers. It solidifies LG's competitive edge in securing global automotive electronics orders.
This year's certification also highlights LG's success in supporting local production in North America. Leveraging its global manufacturing network, LG collaborated closely between its headquarters and regional organization to flexibly respond to shifting program demands, showcasing how global capabilities can be tailored to local market requirements. With North American automakers accelerating supply chain localization, the ability to execute global capabilities tailored to local demands has emerged as a core competency for component suppliers.
Solid financial results back this growth. In the second quarter, the LG VS Company posted record Q2 figures with revenue of KRW3.0259 trillion and operating profit of KRW191.2 billion, marking its second consecutive quarter exceeding KRW3 trillion in sales. Backed by a robust order backlog, the company aims to sustain its growth trajectory, cementing its VS division as a stable B2B profit engine.
LG supplies high-quality solutions to automotive customers by expanding its expertise in IVI, displays, and telematics. In line with the shift toward Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), LG is upgrading hardware and software capabilities across IVI, telematics, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Industry insiders note that strengthened collaboration with Nissan could pave the way for securing next-generation platform orders.
